Why Should You Clean Your Mini-Split?
Mini-split, or other ductless HVAC systems should be cleaned every one to two years to improve your indoor air quality, efficiency, and comfort in your home or business. Overtime the filters and coils can get clogged with dust and debris, causing the mini split to work harder and less efficient. Cleaning and disinfecting is essential for the unit to run efficiently; saving you money on energy bills and expensive repairs. Without the proper cleaning, the same pollutants will continue to recirculate throughout the living space. Dirty units may not drain properly, leading to contamination growth, and unpleasant odors.
Ductless Mini-Split Cleaning Procedure
- Our first step of the cleaning process is to shut the system down and disconnect from the power supply. Next, we open the cabinet doors, remove washable filters.
- The cabinet doors and washable filters will be thoroughly cleaned. A mini-split bib kit will be put in place to wet clean the unit without overspray or mess.
- Adhesive tape and splash guards are used to protect the units’ electronics, sensor panels, and the walls. All internal components including a/c coils, blowers, and cabinets will be cleaned with a degreaser and coil cleaner, then thoroughly rinsed clean with fresh water.
- Once all parts are cleaned, we reinstall the clean filters and cabinet doors and check the system for proper operation. All areas of the jobsite will be left neat and clean.
